As a journalist and communications professional, I have more than 15 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. After starting my career at a press agency in Edinburgh writing for national newspapers and magazines, I returned to my hometown on Teesside to spend almost 10 years at The Gazette. I was a business reporter for three years and later, health reporter. This led to executive communications roles at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and more recently, UK Pods Ltd.
I am passionate about Teesside and due to my unique skills and experience in both corporate and newsroom settings, I believe I am well placed to support local SMEs to get their business messages out to relevant stakeholders and potential clients, as we all try to navigate the ‘new normal’ in this post-lockdown era.
I understand many businesses do not have thousands of pounds to spend on hiring in-house communication or public relations personnel or covering agency retainer fees. That’s why I offer a competitive day rate and I am currently making myself available for one off projects, such as writing a single press release or creating compelling copy for a website, leaflets or brochures.
